The wonderful man I met in Calgary~~~

Last Thursday, I met a really nice old man whose name is called Bruse(I don't know how to spell his name...). We started to know him is because my friend Megan need a mattress for her new room. However, just as someone reminded, if people want to buy a new double bed, it may cost almost 500 dollars. None of us want to spend that much money. Fortunately, we heard some information from our friends about a person who can send free mattress in order to help international students. We tried to phone him as soon as possible when we got his phone number, and he quickly agreed to find one mattress for Megan! We waited him until Thursday, when we began to worry about that he may not show up, he gave a phone call to us. He mentioned that he had a meeting on each Thursday, and he was able to send us the mattress now. He is awesome because he came to our dorm to wait for us and drove us to our apartment which located in downtown. Mr. Bruse is his name, he is really a enthusiastic person who always worried about what helps we need. We were so lucky to know this kind old man!!

Finding furniture for my first home in Calgary (Ⅱ)

According to my last blog, many people should basically know what I am doing during these few days: finding furniture. I felt really hard and difficult to find second hand furniture which I loved on time. Even though sometimes second hand furniture is old, it still holds an intense competition between people like us. So, as I mentioned before, we’ll try to buy some cheap and new furniture by ourselves this time. The best place which is recommended by most of my friends is IKEA. I’d love to go there even though it is far away from our dorms because I had been the same company before which holds in China, it is a really nice choice and most of the furniture there are cheap and beautiful. I went there on Saturday with my friend Megan by taking c-train and bus. It took us a long time to find the right location. When we arrived IKEA, we spent almost five hours to find the furniture, to consider which is best for us to buy and to carry them by ourselves downstairs. At last, we were so glad to buy a pretty glass table with four chairs by just spent 99 dollars, a white coffee table which cost 29 dollars only, two big desks which hold the lowest price in Calgary and some other staffs. We spent no more than 500 dollars to buy all the furniture for our apartment, that travel is really a big harvest for us!

Finding furniture for my first home in Calgary (Ⅰ)

This week is the busiest weeks for me because I found my lovely apartment successfully last week with two of my best friends. As a result, we need to prepare our furniture now. The first way for us to find some cheap and nice furniture is that find them on the internet; however, most of them are second hand furniture. We were still glad when we were able to seek them on line and made appointments with the owners. Afterward, we tasted our tough lives……the reason is that we went to several houses which were really far away from the university, but still cannot gain anything. Most of the furniture which we like are bought or sent to others because they have cars…in contrast; we went to the owners’ houses by taking buses or c-train. How pitiful we are!! We were so said when we knew that the furniture were sold out after we arrived the destinations hardly. Nevertheless, most of the owners are really kind. They always drove us back home automatically without hesitations when they knew that we went there by buses. Those behaviors gave us confidences again because we knew that most of the people are glad to help us, and many of them are really kindhearted. Maybe we’ll try to buy some cheap and new furniture by ourselves next time.
